Description

Rotating cowl for terminating the chimney and ventilation duct

The rotating chimney cowl Ø130 is intended for terminating gravity ventilation ducts and chimneys. As the dome rotates, the wind creates negative pressure in the duct, and the pressure difference helps extract air from the building.

Main advantages

  • Acid-resistant steel: it is made of 1.4404 stainless steel, suitable for exposed use on the chimney.
  • Oil-filled ball bearings: the rotor turns on bearings that ensure long-lasting, quiet operation without failures.
  • Operation in different wind directions: the dome turns by itself according to the wind direction, so ventilation works regardless of wind direction.
  • Duct protection: the cowl protects the duct from precipitation and draught disturbances.
  • Help with weak draught: recommended for weak or absent draught, a too short chimney, turbulence, a house among trees or in a valley, and when the chimney is lower than the roof ridge.
  • 2-year warranty: the product has a 2-year warranty.

Use and installation

The cowl is intended for chimneys and gravity ventilation ducts with a nominal diameter of 130 mm. The internal diameter of the sleeve is 132.5 mm, the total height of the cowl is 350 mm, and the sleeve height is 160 mm.

It can be installed directly on the duct with the sleeve or on a base. A version with a base is also available, which has a square mounting plate of 245 mm with a 90 mm high ring; the base is fastened to the chimney head with 4 screws. The cowl is not suitable for chimneys in which coal, including pea coal, is burned.

Frequently asked questions

How does the rotating cowl help with draught?

The wind creates negative pressure in the duct around the dome. Due to the pressure difference, air is extracted from the building through the chimney or gravity ventilation duct.

Does the cowl work if the wind changes direction?

Yes. The dome turns by itself according to the wind direction, so ventilation can work regardless of wind direction.

Is it suitable for a chimney in which coal is burned?

No. The cowl is not suitable for chimneys in which coal is burned, including pea coal.

Conclusion

The rotating chimney cowl Ø130 is a suitable choice for finishing a chimney or gravity ventilation duct, especially where there are problems with weak draught, wind or precipitation.
